Penguins, Homework and Tamora Pierce

I know, I know. We have a humongous history project to hand in in not-all-that-long, not to mention the  English essay which was meant to be in today, but which I haven't even drafted yet, and I am on Blogger.
This is partly my dear friend Campion's fault of course. Without her, I would be reading  happily doing my homework like a good girl. But she has been nagging me to post, and so I have no choice.
The reading would have consisted of my favourite author of all time. An author, coincidently, which NO-ONE HAS EVER HEARD OF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY???????????????????
Sorry, but I feel very strongly about this. Tamora Pierce writes some of the best fantasy books I have ever come across, stories filled with magic and humour, richly detailed splendour and the sort of high fantasy which could be pretentious and stupid, but somehow isn't. It is hard to tell just what is so good about them, but the fact remains that they are excellent. Tamora Pierce is a freaking writing GENIUS!  I'm serious, that woman is good.
Why she has remained undiscovered is a mystery and a true tragedy. Her books should be available free to the world, like clean water and healthcare. Everyone should be reading them from the moment they learn to read. But, no. It is not to be.
If you don't know who she is, then learn. Start with Alanna: The First Adventure for the world of Tortal if you're interested in true, pure, unashamedly High Fantasy, or The Magic in the Weaving for the world of Emalen if you want something more low-key. I'm SERIOUS here.  Not joking. Read them. Now.
Anyhoo, now for penguins.
Penguins are good. They are excellent creatures. To prove this, try not to think about penguins for 5 minutes. You can't. It's impossible. PROOF.
I firmly believe that when we all die off, or move into outer space, the penguins will inherit the earth. They are the perfect animal.
Here is more, photographic evidence for the excellence of penguins:

  1. Owls are WAY better than penguins. Admit it. And if you don't, well, owls are birds of prey...
